Academic Projects

During my four years at Dalhousie University, I was given the opportunity to work on many notable projects.

Along with my peer, I co-facilitated and co-coached the retirement webinar for Dalhousie University faculty. We assisted participants in determining their retirement goals through discussion and feedback. I helped participants discover resources to help ease their transition into retirement. I also co-managed discussion boards, homework feedback, and technology support. I was able to work on multiple NCTRC Job Analysis Task Domains, including: Professional Relationships and Responsibilities, Plan Interventions and Programs, Implement Interventions and Programs, Evaluate Outcome of the Interventions and Programs, and Document Intervention Services.

Along with my peer, we developed and facilitated a leisure education program for first year Recreation Therapy students. We used leisure education to help first-year students plan their time meaningfully, explore goal setting, and maintain a healthy leisure lifestyle. We used worksheets, group discussion, and games to assist us in teaching leisure education.

Alongside my peer, we worked with the recreation therapist at the Acute Physical Medicine Dartmouth General Hospital to assess their current charting standards. My peer and I used evidence-based research to provide suggestions to update their charting standards for Acute Care as well as for the Therapeutic Assistant Service.
